Buffy
Sato, the owner of Pilates Body Fitness, has practiced the Pilates method for the past
17 years. She began her study of Pilates in 1993 as a way to regain core strength after experiencing an emergency
surgery. She continued to train for 8 years with Pilates teachers Michele Miller, the founder of Velocity Dance
Center in Seattle, and Cary Regan, who trained and taught with Romana Kryzanowska in New York. Buffy then began
her career as a Pilates teacher in 2000 and opened her studio Pilates Body Fitness in 2002. Buffy has found it immensely
rewarding to help clients discover the joy of moving with strength, balance and control. With the help of pilates, Buffy
continues to study dance and movement in the Seattle area.
Elizabeth Mendana
Shaw recently relocated to Seattle
from San Francisco. She has over 15 years of experience teaching movement education. She is now a certified ITT Pilates instructor
in the lineage of Madeline Black and Jean Sullivan. Initially, Elizabeth sought out Pilates to enhance her strength and stability
as a dancer. Now she realizes the importance of this work for longevity in any physical activity. Elizabeth focuses on alignment,
balance, and function to help clients find ease of movement in everyday activities. Elizabeth shares her knowledge of the
mechanics of movement in such a way that clients develop awareness and understanding of their own movement patterns.
Elizabeth is an avid dancer, loves hiking and mountaineering, and is just starting a kayak habit.
